Following urgent representations by the PGA, Main Roads WA has reinstated the 53.5m access endorsement required for livestock transporters and pastoralists moving cattle on “triples” as far south as Muchea.
PGA Pastoral Committee Chair Ashley Dowden raised the cancellation of these permits directly with Minister for Agriculture Jackie Jarvis on 2 October. The PGA followed up in writing to both the Minister for Transport and the Minister for Agriculture the following morning. Main Roads responded the same day with the following advice:
Main Roads WA
“We have issued the Temporary Special Assistance – Cattle Movement South of Ogilvie – 53.5m Access endorsement (7379) through to 31 December 2025, for the movement of cattle from Carnarvon coastal areas to Muchea for animal welfare reasons resulting from a shortage of feed and water only.”
The endorsement will be reissued automatically to all operators who previously held it with a valid permit. Operators who did not previously hold the endorsement but require it should email permit.applications@mainroads.wa.gov.au with a valid permit to request it be attached.
