The PGA of WA has made a comprehensive submission to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation on the draft Fitzroy-Derby Water Resources Management Plan. In our response, we argue that the proposed allocation limits are not supported by the best-available science and would lock away substantial economic development potential for the Kimberley.

We also draw attention to the significant practical and regulatory barriers that currently prevent pastoralists from accessing groundwater, and we call on the Government to adopt a more balanced, science-based approach that enables sustainable development while protecting the environmental values of the Fitzroy River catchment.
