WHAT’S WRONG WITH MAKING A PROFIT—PGA
2011-09-23
The Pastoralists and Graziers Association (PGA) has dismissed claims by the WA Farmers Federation that the recent salary increase for Coles CEO Ian McLeod would inflame tensions between farmers and supermarket groups.
“To be completely frank, it is of no concern to farmers if the Wesfarmers Board decides to reward executives who increase profits for their shareholders,” PGA President Rob Gillam said.
“Claims that profitability will inflame tensions between farmers and supermarket groups are nothing more than agrarian socialist scaremongering and have no place either in farming, or in the modern business world.”
