PGA WELCOMES OPENING OF NEW KATANNING SALEYARDS
2014-05-28
The Pastoralists and Graziers’ Association (PGA) President Tony Seabrook welcomed today’s opening of the new Katanning Saleyards, saying the state of the art facility will have a positive impact not only for the WA sheep industry but for regional businesses and local producers.
“Over one million sheep are sold annually through Katanning and this modern facility will encourage more competition and provide a net benefit to regional areas through renewed buyer interest, increased buyer numbers and more suitable presentation of animals,” Mr Seabrook said.
“The new saleyards provide greater efficiencies in animal welfare and occupational safety and health, with larger receival holding pens and modern loading facilities.”
“This is a win-win for sheep producers, the State Government, the Shire of Katanning and the WA State Government.”
