PGA WELCOMES GRYLL’S COMMITMENT TO PASTORAL INDUSTRY
2011-03-03
The Pastoralists and Graziers Association has welcomed the commitment of Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls to support the pastoral industry through the introduction of security of tenure under a new range of leases which will give pastoralists greatly increased security of tenure.
Mr Gillam said, “Pastoralists continue to pay much more for a much less secure title and the much anticipated review of pastoral rents would go a long way to restoring industry confidence in the Government’s rangelands reform program”.
“We are heartened that Minister Grylls announced at our 104th Annual Convention that the State Government will be reviewing a range of options to support the pastoral industry. It is anticipated that leases will range from a simple grazing lease as it is currently available, through a range of options allowing for more intensive investment and development, to the much sought after perpetual lease.”
“The PGA looks forward to working with Minister Grylls and his Parliamentary Secretary the Hon Wendy Duncan on both tenure and rent review as it is anticipated this will greatly reduce the red tape which is restricting the productivity of pastoral lease lands in Western Australia.”
