NEW AGRICULTURE MINISTER WELCOMED BY PGA
2016-03-29
The Pastoralists and Graziers Association of WA (PGA), Western Australia’s oldest, largest and only state wide organisation representing pastoralists, graziers and grain growers has welcomed today’s announcement of the Hon Dean Nalder MLA as the new WA Minister for Agriculture and Food.
“The PGA has always had a strong relationship with Minister Nalder on transport issues and we now look forward to continuing our relationship on agricultural matters,” PGA president Tony Seabrook said.
“Agriculture is one of the most significant economic activities in the State, creating wealth and employment throughout regional WA,” he said.
“Minister Nalder has shown through his handling of the Transport portfolio that he is not afraid to take on the big issues, like Tier Three rail, dedicated freight links, or port access and the PGA looks forward to working with him on addressing the numerous issues impacting on the profitability of many farming operations.”
“The PGA would also like to offer its thanks to outgoing Agriculture and Food Minister Ken Baston,” Mr Seabrook said.
“Ken has been a tremendous champion of Western Australian agriculture, bringing in difficult legislation like the repeal of the GM Free Crop Areas Act, the introduction of the Wild Dog Bounty and initiating the move to deregulate the potato industry.”
“We wish him well on his future endeavours.”
